Making our VISION a reality
This is not new! South Kingstown has had a consistent vision for housing for decades. In brief, the Town has been striving for . . .
Development of new homes in the Central Villages (Wakefield, Peace Dale, and to a lesser extent Kingston) and in other areas close to town with access to public sewers.
Minimal development of new homes outside these areas, in order to preserve our agricultural, forest, and coastal landscapes.
Development of housing choices that meet the diverse needs of our residents in terms of size, price, type, and tenure (owned and for rent).
More thoughtful use of conservation/open space development where new single-family subdivisions are approved.
Meeting the state goal of reaching 10% low-moderate income housing.
This effort is all about finding concrete ways to make this long-standing vision a reality.
