Making our VISION a reality

This is not new!  South Kingstown has had a consistent vision for housing for decades.  In brief, the Town has been striving for . . .

  • Development of new homes in the Central Villages (Wakefield, Peace Dale, and to a lesser extent Kingston) and in other areas close to town with access to public sewers.

  • Minimal development of new homes outside these areas, in order to preserve our agricultural, forest, and coastal landscapes.

  • Development of housing choices that meet the diverse needs of our residents in terms of size, price, type, and tenure (owned and for rent).

  • More thoughtful use of conservation/open space development where new single-family subdivisions are approved.

  • Meeting the state goal of reaching 10% low-moderate income housing.

This effort is all about finding concrete ways to make this long-standing vision a reality.
