This particular study is looking at alternatives to single-family homes on separate lots. Currently, South Kingstown’s Zoning Ordinance allows for alternatives including two-family homes, accessory apartments, and multi-family homes of various sizes. However, there are a number of options in between two-family homes and multi-family homes that could be considered, such as:

  • Conversion of large homes to multi-family homes

  • Two homes on one lot

  • Cottage Communities

  • Co-Housing

  • Townhouses

  • Bungalow Courts
